Great friends of ours asked me to paint something related to baseball. While I am operating outside of my comfort zone when figure painting I agreed to give it a try. The stage of life we are in normally would have us running around dropping our school age kids off at practices or games. In some cases we might be coaching or simply rooting them on from the stands. So by default we are all baseball fans and we are missing the game of baseball in a tremendous way.
This is the second time in my life that I have been involuntarily unable to participate in the game. This is the first time that there have been no live games to watch. I never could have imagined a time where there is no Major League Baseball and an entire season could be cancelled. Yet, here we are in 2020.
Such a strange time yet we have so many things to be grateful for. Great memories of the great national pastime we share, good friends, family, the ability to create and serve others are all but a few.
This too shall pass and hopefully soon we'll return to our lives as they were, for the most part, prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Hopefully we'll get to see a game and root for our favorite players again sometime soon.
This piece is nearly complete. Just a few tweaks and it will be done. I'm learning as I go and definitely would love to get better at painting sports themed figure paintings. My comfort zone is more aligned with figure free landscape paintings but this certainly was fun too.
