Study the Greats Painting Series
Updated: Mar 22, 2021
Art, more than anything else is about connection for me. I see art as a vehicle to help the artist and the viewer connect with each other and the world around them. Often beautiful art will do so in ways that help elevate all parties involved.
Meanwhile, even the most dedicated artists need help figuring out how to produce the work we aim to create - the type of work that elevates nature and the viewer's experience of it. There are many ways to do this. One of the best ways to help level-up painting skillsets is to find people who are truly great at something and copy them.
This is the reason I have started a long-term series of paintings which will consist of intentionally selected studies of works created by true master painters. I intend to work these painting studies into my practice every few projects or so and will select painters who I admire, those who paint certain subjects amazingly well and, in some cases, works that present an opportunity for some fun experimentation.
Here are a few recent examples.
I hope you enjoy these. I appreciate your time. If you or someone you know wish to learn more about the methods used to complete these paintings or the basics of beginner oil painting, there are some videos on my channel that may help. Feel free to check them out click here. Also I do offer lessons on Zoom from time to time too. We are finalizing the schedule for late spring 2021 at this time. Take good care & be well, Tom
