Long ago, seeds for several book ideas were planted in my mind. Admittedly this was not one of them but about eight months ago I started working on a book concept which evolved into “Field Guide to Outdoor Painting in the Pocono Mountains.”

This short book is a comprehensive guide to painting outdoors in nature in the beautiful Pocono Mountain Region. This guide illustrates how you can plan your own Plein air painting adventures in the Poconos. This book will benefit those planning to paint in oils, watercolor, and pastel.


The book is easy to read and will take beginners and experienced painters from an introduction to the Pocono Mountain Region, to ideas about how to choose the right medium. Then on to establishing a personalized tools & gear checklist, finding and accessing painting

locations, to finishing and transporting your work, building a practice and community, finding safe places to paint in the Poconos and much more!


The intention behind this book is to encourage creative souls to venture out into nature and experience the joy of painting en Plein air - out in nature, through direct observation.
